If we ask U.K. Parishes to develop our web site will we have any control over the output ?

Yes, you will be consulted throughout the design process and your web pages will be put on our test site for your approval.

 

Will U.K. Parishes charge for making small updates such as changing a contact name or phone number ?

No we will not charge for the occasional small alteration. If requested to make frequent updates we will inform you of any charges beforehand.

 

Do you charge for support ?

No, both e-mail and telephone support are free. No premium rate telephone calls.

 

How long will it take to develop our web site ?

Once we have all the content and your instructions work should be completed within a maximum of fifteen working days. In most cases less.

 

What is a sub domain name ?

A sub domain name is when your web pages are part of someone else's domain.
For example www.toptown-pc.localcouncils.net where toptown-pc is a sub domain of localcouncils.net.

In this example: www.localcouncils.net/toptown-pc; toptown-pc is a sub folder on the localcouncils.net web site.

All the web sites we design have their own unique domain name, www.toptown-pc.gov.uk for example.

 

What do .doc, .rtf and .pdf mean ?

These are common word processor document types. e.g.   jan02minutes.doc
Microsoft Word documents have the .doc extension
Rich Text Format documents have the .rtf extension
Adobe Acrobat documents use the .pdf extension

 

Is there any limit to the web site page size ?

As a rule we work to a maximum page size of less than 40K.

 

Can we submit ideas for our own web site design ?

Yes we will work to your requirements. There may be a one off charge to prepare the new layout. This will be quoted for after you have submitted your ideas and we have agreed on the work to be done.

 

Our Council covers more than one community how will people find them in the A to Z ?

If you give us the place names we will add them to the A to Z and link them to the appropriate web site.

 

What does cross browser compatible mean ?

Browsers are for example Internet Explorer or Netscape. Cross browser compatible means that your web site will be designed to work in both.

 

Do we have to have third party adverts on our web pages ?

No. If advertisements are put on your web site it will be at your request.

 

If at anytime in the future we wish to move our web site will there be any problems ?

No, unlike some systems your web site can be transferred in it's entirety. But we are confident that you will not want to leave.

 

We already have our web site up and running, can we still have a link from U.K. Parishes ?

Yes,on your web site simply add a link to ukparishes.net and we will set up your entry using a text description of up to sixty words provided by you. If you do not wish to exchange links then there will be a one off £14.00 administration fee.
